The Centre for the Spatial Realm (CSR) is a cross-disciplinary research group, founded by urbatect and writer Ayssar Arida (www.quantumcity.com) and artist and sound designer Thor McB (www.aswarm.com) to raise public awareness of urban space through science and art.

Ayssar & Thor are open to requests of collaboration or project commissions, or any suggestion or criticism, and can be contacted through their respective websites above.

This website has just launched and is very much still in the works. Below are the CSR's latest events.

ORCHITECTURE : quantum theory meets sound meets architecture, an exploration of space through orchestral music and vice versa

A collaboration between the CSR and New London Orchestra (www.nlo.co.uk)
First realisation in Chiswick House 2005 | Einstein Year

Saturday 24.09.05 from 1 to 5pm

Sunday 25.09.05 from 2 to 5pm with LIVE QUARTET!

A sound & video installation with live musical performance produced by the CSR with the New London Orchestra. We will be testing, in an art form, some concepts fom Quantum City (e.g. emergence, quantum territoriality, diventity, wave overlaps, observer-observed dialogue...)

Four musicians will compose a distributed live quartet, as each will be sitting in a different room of the house. Other rooms will have speakers playing pre-recorded single-instrument partitions, and TV monitors will show overlapping live CCTV and pre-recorded footage of the same rooms, filling the house with a ghostly presence of audience and musicians. As you walk around the house, your exact position will influence what you hear and how you hear it, with certain spots allowing for a full appreciation of the Mozart and Dvorak waltzes, while others providing incredible insight into the individual role of each musician.

Orchitecture invites audiences to explore this fascinating building through spatial sound, CCTV and live orchestral music. The installation offers an investigation of Architecture through Sound and Video and of Music through Architectural Space and Video. The experience is active, yet both playful and contemplative.
